You May Need a Crown If…
Crowns are the recommended solution when a tooth has damage beyond what a filling can repair.
Cracked or Broken Tooth
A visible crack, fracture, or break that leaves the tooth vulnerable to further damage or infection.
Large Failing Filling
An old or oversized filling that's breaking down, leaving too little natural tooth structure to hold a new filling.
Significant Wear or Decay
Teeth with extensive wear or decay where more tooth structure needs to be removed and a ceramic shell bonded over the entire tooth.
Replacing an Old Metal Crown
Upgrading an aging metal crown to a modern, biocompatible porcelain restoration that looks and feels natural.
Your Crown in 3 Comfortable Steps
No surprises, no pressure — here’s exactly what to expect.
1. Evaluation & Treatment Plan
Dr. Shimanovsky examines your tooth, takes digital X-rays, and determines the right solution. She explains all your options, the materials she recommends, and what the process will look like — with complete cost transparency before any work begins. Free consultation — no obligation.
2. Preparation & Impression
The damaged tooth is carefully reshaped to create space for the crown to fit over it completely. A precise impression is sent to the dental lab where your custom crown is crafted to match the exact shade of your surrounding teeth. You'll wear a comfortable temporary in the meantime. Biocompatible — no metal or amalgam.
3. Fit Check & Placement
When your crown arrives from the lab, Dr. Shimanovsky checks the fit, color match, and bite before permanently bonding it. If any adjustments are needed, they're made chairside. You leave with a strong, natural-looking tooth that's built to last.
Dr. Inna Shimanovsky, DMD
Over 25 years restoring smiles with precision, care, and biocompatible materials.
Dr. Shimanovsky graduated from Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry in 2000 and has spent over two decades perfecting the art and science of dental restoration. She is SMART-certified by the IAOMT — meaning she follows the highest safety protocols for removing old amalgam fillings and replacing them with biocompatible restorations, including porcelain crowns.
When placing crowns on several adjacent teeth, her approach achieves excellent results — with less constraint from existing teeth, she has more freedom to correct color, shape, and symmetry for a natural, harmonious smile.

Questions & Answers
Dental crowns at AAdvanced Dental in Oregon City typically range from $800 to $1,500 depending on the material and complexity. Most dental insurance plans cover 50–80% of the cost. We also offer CareCredit financing with 0% interest for up to 12 months and in-house payment plans with no application fees. Your free consultation includes a detailed cost estimate.
Most patients experience little to no discomfort. We use local anesthetic during the preparation, and Dr. Shimanovsky is known for her gentle technique — patients with dental anxiety consistently report feeling at ease. Mild sensitivity after placement is normal and typically fades within a few days. Sedation options are available.
As a holistic, mercury-free practice, we use only biocompatible porcelain and ceramic — no metal, no amalgam. These materials are safe for your body, resistant to staining, and color-matched to blend with your natural teeth. Dr. Shimanovsky is SMART-certified and follows the highest safety protocols for material selection.
Mercury-free dentistry is important because mercury is a known neurotoxin that can have harmful effects on the body. Removing mercury amalgam fillings safely and replacing them with biocompatible materials reduces the risk of mercury exposure and supports overall health.
With proper care — regular brushing, flossing, and dental checkups — porcelain crowns typically last 10 to 15 years, and many last significantly longer. Dr. Shimanovsky uses precision digital scanning and high-quality materials to maximize the fit and longevity of every crown.
A veneer covers only the front surface of a tooth and is used for cosmetic improvements. A crown covers the entire tooth — all the way around — and is used when a tooth has significant structural damage, wear, or decay. Crowns restore both the appearance and the strength of the tooth. Dr. Shimanovsky will recommend the right option during your consultation.
We accept most major dental insurance plans and will verify your benefits before treatment so you know your costs upfront. For patients without insurance, we offer our new patient special (exam + X-rays + photographs at $125) and flexible payment plans through CareCredit or Cherry. We accept Visa and Mastercard.
Typically two visits over about two weeks: one for preparation, impressions, and placement of a temporary crown, and a second for fitting and bonding your permanent porcelain crown. Both appointments are comfortable and efficient.
Absolutely. Many of our patients choose AAdvanced Dental specifically because of dental anxiety. Dr. Shimanovsky and her team create a calm, supportive environment — they talk you through every step, go at your pace, and offer sedation options.
As one patient shared: “I have severe dental anxiety — they got me in the next day and I was very happy with the work.”
